Frequently Asked Questions

How does ordering work?

North Texas sand and gravel is owned and operated by a veteran rock and gravel hauler that found a niche. It is intimidating and confusing to order large heavy loads for the typical homeowner to the commercial landscape contractor. Meanwhile there is a network of licensed and insured heavy haulers that are ready to go. L&F Sand & Gravel helps you finalize your plan than will dispatch the right driver and the right material in a timely fashion.

  1. Do your best to calculate the amount of material you need.

  2. Fill out the order sheet

  3. L&F Sand & Gravel will finalize your order and give you a call to confirm details.

Where do the materials come from?

Scattered around North Texas and Southern Oklahoma are rock supply plants that produce large amounts of specific materials. The materials may be native to the region. The price will sometimes reflect the distance needed to travel to pick up specific materials. All the details will be discussed prior to your purchase.

What should I expect when my materials are being delivered?

We anticipate no problems as our drivers are professionals and have delivered thousands of loads of heavy materials. However, rock and sand is extremely heavy and will come in a large dump truck or even a dump truck with a “pup” trailer. 20 tons of material will be over 40,000 pounds of material and truck. Our drivers are professionals and will NOT go into an area where they believe damage can happen due to their weight. If your area has limited space or sensitive areas like a soft lawn we recommend you are present when the driver is scheduled to deliver.

What is the difference between Flex Base and Crushed Concrete?

Flex base is a limestone base that is typically fresh out of the ground via a pit and crushed to various size. Crushed concrete is recycled concrete from an old road, or foundation crushed and reused. Both are great surfaces to drive on because they set up extremely hard and fairly easy to maintain.

Is Flex Base or Crushed Concrete better for a driveway?

Both are suitable for driveways and typically priced the relatively the same. However, for a new driveway or surface that was previously soil, we recommend starting with Flex Base as the limestone will help stabilize the soil. Both surfaces do require future additional material so additional layers can be crushed concrete which is typically easier to find.
